These fish are printed using a van son rubber-based ink. A blue watercolour wash has been applied across the entire print. Details have been added to the fish with watercolour, pencil, and archival inks. The gold leaf has been applied in a way that allows it to be slightly broken, revealing the contrasting blue wash underneath.
The paper is Mulberry thick 52gsm, which is 10% Kozo with the balance being 90% sulphite pulp, with no chemical fillers, and a small amount of sizing is added before drying.
The gold leaf is 23ct red gold which has been beaten incredibly finely to form gossamer thin sheets for gilding. It has been applied using a two-part system by Kolner and then varnished with a semi-gloss robust lacquer. This genuine rose gold will not tarnish.
Due to the technique used for the application of gold leaf, this artwork is unique and not an edition.
Although gold leaf is protected with a robust lacquer, I highly recommend that it be framed and can advise on this if requested.
