An edition of 15 Maine Lobster prints were produced in black. In addition, three Artist Proofs (APs) were created, and I currently have one available for sale.
This print is priced higher than the standard edition due to its increased value and collectibility. Artist Proofs are considered more valuable because of their scarcity; fewer exist compared to the main edition and their direct connection to the artist’s creative process. APs are often reserved for the artist’s personal archive and may feature subtle variations in color or detail, making each one especially unique.
Collectors prize Artist Proofs for their exclusivity and prestige, viewing them as a closer link to the artist’s original vision and an intimate glimpse into the development of the artwork prior to the limited edition run.
